Vice President, Investment
Ben Forcier is vice president of investment at Innovacorp, an organization enabling innovative early stage Nova Scotia companies to accelerate commercialization of their technologies and increase competitiveness in export markets. In this role, Ben manages Innovacorp’s seed and early stage venture capital fund, sources co-investors, and provides advice to technology entrepreneurs.
Ben has more than 18 years of experience with private and public companies and has held a number of positions in the areas of treasury management, corporate finance, venture capital, operations, and financial communications. He sits on the board of Medusa Medical Technologies Inc. He also recently acted as an advisor to Montreal-based Tribal Nova, an award-winning interactive entertainment company that develops, markets and operates virtual worlds and gaming web properties targeting kids. Tribal Nova closed a $3 million round of venture capital in April 2009.
Ben began his career with Kenmont Management, a private investment company based in Montreal, Quebec. In 1992, he moved to BCE Inc., one of the world’s leading communications companies. During his tenure with the strategic management company, he held a number of senior positions in treasury management, financial planning, risk & insurance and investor relations. His career at BCE led him to roles in business development and venture investment with Bell Canada’s Alliances and Acquisitions team and BCE’s Venture Capital Fund.
Seven years later, Ben joined the Telesystem Group of companies, a private telecommunications holding company with direct investments in more than 10 countries, where he held several senior positions raising private and public equity capital. During his tenure with Telesystem International Wireless Inc. (TIW) and as part of the finance team, he played a key role positioning the company to secure more than $150 million in financing during the growth phase of TIW (acquired by Vodafone Group Plc, NYSE: VOD).
Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Ben is a graduate of Concordia University.
