Crickets, leafy greens, puppies and solid waste. That’s mostly what’s on the minds of the panelists at our next Business Over Breakfast. You can watch a stream of this session on our YouTube channel.

But let’s find out what else they’re thinking about when we pick their brains about starting, running and financing a Nova Scotia clean technology start-up.

Join us on January 26 in Dartmouth (or Sydney via webcast).

Gregg Curwin, Founder & CEO, TruLeaf (www.truleaf.ca) – TruLeaf’s Smart Plant Systems are an innovative technology that leverages multi-level vertical farming to create a controlled, efficient indoor farm to grow fresh produce anywhere in the world, year round. Gregg founded TruLeaf in 2011 after numerous other entrepreneurial successes. He’s owned and operated companies in medical device distribution, biologics, manufacturing, retail, and health consulting.

Joy Hillier, President & Founder, Midgard Insect Farm – Joy launched Midgard following her education in veterinary technology at Dalhousie’s faculty of agriculture. Paired with previous entrepreneurial experience, Joy leveraged her education and began breeding and raising crickets – a far more sustainable protein choice than traditional sources. Joy’s cricket protein will be a featured ingredient used in her investor Dane Creek Capital Corp.’s Dockside brand of planet-friendly pet treats, meal mixers, and meal toppers for dogs and cats.

Peter Vinall, President & CEO, Sustane Technologies (www.sustane.co) – Peter is a globally seasoned senior executive with more than 35 years in pulp, paper and bioenergy sectors. His deep engineering roots, formal business training (MBA) and business start-up and turnaround experience strongly support Sustane’s growth and development. Sustane’s technologies transform municipal solid waste streams into high-value fuels and recyclable materials.
