After Joseph Gracie experienced virtual reality while working in Korea, he couldn’t shake the feeling that it was something he wanted to bring home to Cape Breton. Teaming up with his childhood friend, Joshua Boutilier, Cape Breton's first virtual reality (VR) experience was born!

Open less than a month, Soulvaria: Virtual Reality & Gaming Entertainment Inc (Soulvaria VR), offers guests the newest in frontier VR technology, content and gaming entertainment.Virtual reality (VR) is truly the future of social interaction, gaming, film, education and entertainment in general. It has the ability to put users virtually “inside” the experience and turn them into the action hero or explorer they have always wanted to be. VR allows the user to experience things from a truly first-person perspective; blurring the lines between their reality and the three-dimensional (3D) reality being interacted with.

VR can also offer users a robust health conscious experience of swaying their arms, jumping and swinging from side to side while interacting in their virtual environment. This entertaining possibility is why virtual reality is being explored by just about every major entertainment brand on the planet and is quickly growing in popularity; being compared to similar adoption rates and trends as the color-TV.

Joseph will discuss how both himself and Joshua have brought VR experiences to Cape Breton after a year of planning and preparing. Priding themselves on the affordability and access that an out-of-home virtual reality experience offers the community. Joseph and Joshua also are working on the model that a VR centre will surely serve to mitigate the heavy costs and space requirements for experiencing premium virtual reality at-home while allowing guests to grasp the full potential of room scale VR in ways that even expensive at-home set-ups may be limited in providing.
