The Spark Innovation Challenge 2018 shortlist was selected earlier this week.
The goal of Spark is to find and support high potential, early stage knowledge-based companies, and encourage entrepreneurial activity in the province. Spark offers start-ups the opportunity to win up to $50,000 to put their idea into action and business guidance from somebody who’s been there, done that. All shortlisted start-ups fall into one of the following sectors: information technology, life sciences, clean technology or ocean technology. Join us Thursday, June 7, to hear a brief company overview from a member of each company on the Spark Cape Breton shortlist.
After running Spark exclusively in Cape Breton for a few years, the competition was expanded in 2017 to reach entrepreneurs across Nova Scotia. During a two-week acceleration boot camp, the shortlist will meet previous spark winners, receive training to prepare them for their upcoming pitches and support to help get their businesses going. Funds awarded will be used to support the completion of prototypes or preparation for taking the product or service to market.
