Innovacorp’s Accelerate Program global stream helps entrepreneurs get investment ready and immigrate to Nova Scotia. If you have a high potential start-up approaching investment readiness, we can help.

The program is now closed for submissions! The deadline for applications was Monday, September 10, 2018, at 11:59 pm ADT.

The program will be held from October 2018 to March 2019. Shortlisted companies will be notified by September 14, 2018, and invited to present via Skype to the selection committee the following week. We will work with applicants to accommodate schedules as much as possible.

Global stream companies can participate in person or remotely. Companies who receive a letter of support for Innovacorp’s Start-Up Visa Program and arrive in Nova Scotia by February 1, 2019, will be eligible to receive up to $25,000 to address key technical and business milestones.

We encourage companies to participate in person in Nova Scotia. You may need a visitor’s visa. For more information about obtaining a visa, visit the IRCC website. Learn more about Innovacorp’s Start-Up Visa Program.

In addition to funding, companies will get access to a series of acceleration activities and resources. Workshops are mandatory and participants should make every effort to take advantage of the other activities and resources offered.

The following resources are available remotely:

Monthly advisory service from Experts in Residence (EiR). EiRs will be available to provide one-on-one advice in four core business areas: product management, venture finance, start-up governance, and human resources and culture.

Monthly workshops on special topics such as regulatory planning, IP strategy and investment readiness.

The following resources are available upon landing in Nova Scotia via Innovacorp’s Start-Up Visa Program:

Market intelligence through the MaRS Market Intelligence Services program. Participants will receive information about their industry, competitors, market, potential investors and partners, and best practices. The MaRS team of analysts and information specialists have industry knowledge and access to top proprietary databases, reports and statistics.

Shared office space in our one of our incubation facilities. Medical technology companies will land at our state-of-the-art facility for life sciences companies, the Innovacorp Enterprise Centre (IEC). IEC is connected to the Life Sciences Research Institute and Halifax’s busy knowledge hub: universities, hospitals, the Brain Repair Centre, and the National Research Council – all a stone’s throw away. Blue and green technology companies will receive space at Innovacorp’s Technology Innovation Centre (TIC). TIC is located just minutes from downtown Dartmouth and the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE), and offers a range of resources, including enterprise-grade voice and data networks, meeting space, and support from being part of a community of start-ups. (Companies participating in the global stream will access space at the facility best suited to their needs.)
