A leader from the energy sector and an experienced investment manager are the newest additions to Innovacorp's board of directors.

Chris Huskilson, president and CEO of Emera Inc., and Terri Troy, CEO of Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) Pension Plan, have been appointed to the board.

"Innovacorp's work is a key part of the jobsHere plan to grow the economy in Nova Scotia," said Percy Paris, Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism today, Aug. 24. "The leadership of Innovacorp's board of directors enables the organization to continue to drive innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization in the province."

Mr. Huskilson began his career with Nova Scotia Power in 1980. He was made chief operating officer of Emera and Nova Scotia Power in 2003, and president and chief executive officer of Emera in 2004. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia and chair of the Canadian Electricity Association. Mr. Huskilson serves on many for-profit and not-for-profit boards of directors, and is past chair of the Greater Halifax Partnership and the Energy Council of Canada.

As CEO of the HRM Pension Plan, Ms. Troy is responsible for all aspects of the multi-employer pension plan, including governance, risk management, customer service, pension administration, and investments. She is also a member of the C.D. Howe Institute's Pension Advisory Group, the Canadian Association of Pension Supervisory Authorities working group that is reviewing pension investment rules and funding issues, the Advisory Committee for Canadian Investment Review, the Alternative Investment Management Association of Canada's Institutional Committee, and the Pension Advisory Committee for Dalhousie University. Ms. Troy is also actively involved with the Pension Investment Association of Canada.

"Our board includes outstanding senior executives from private industry, the public sector and academia across Nova Scotia. We look forward to having Chris and Terri help guide and inform our future efforts," said Jacquelyn Thayer Scott, chair of the board.

"I'd also like to thank Jim White, regional operating officer with RBC Royal Bank, who's leaving the board this month. We'll miss the commitment and wisdom Jim brought to every task."
