Innovacorp’s president and CEO is now lending his business expertise to companies across the country, advising them on how they can enhance their operations and strategies.
The Globe and Mail asked Dan MacDonald to join its expert panel of business professionals from across Canada to tackle Business Incubator case studies. Once a month, the panel meets to discuss a real life small business venture and provide the entrepreneur with strategic advice. The audio and/or video discussion is then available via podcast on the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business website.
“Entrepreneurs juggle day-to-day operational demands with the need to lead their companies to growth and success. It’s a 24/7 pressure-cooker,” explains Noel Hulsman, the Globe and Mail’s small business editor. “The Business Incubator is like a personal business advisory board, giving access to invaluable expertise, experience and insights. Learning the lessons of others will help SME entrepreneurs increase the chances of their own success.”
MacDonald will join a team of six prominent CEOs, successful entrepreneurs, and business specialists from across the country.
“We asked Dan because of his 22 years of experience building high technology businesses, and his regular exposure to early stage companies in his role at Innovacorp. He’s held senior positions in global marketing, product management, engineering, customer operations, venturing, and mergers and acquisitions. He understands SMEs and major multinationals,” says Hulsman.
“Our economy – Nova Scotia’s, Canada’s, the world’s – depends on the success of SMEs, so I’m pleased to be part of a resource to help them overcome challenges,” says MacDonald. “While I have been asked to share my experience and insights, I fully expect to learn and grow from listening to the advice from the other panelists.”
The Globe and Mail Report on Business Incubator, found at WWW.GLOBEANDMAIL.COM/INCUBATOR, features expert advice, case studies, podcasts, videos, online discussions, and other resources. These are an addition to the Globe and Mail’s existing roster of content for small businesses which includes the Report on Business magazine, and regular small business features in the Report on Business section and on globeandmail.com.
The podcast of Dan’s first panel discussion is now online at WWW.GLOBEANDMAIL.COM/INCUBATOR. The panel weighed in on the challenges faced by Auctionwire, a Canadian company that runs online auctions around the world to raise money for charities.
