Innovacorp has formed a partnership with the DMZ, formerly known as the Digital Media Zone, at Ryerson University in Toronto.

The partnership allows members from both organizations to access each other’s facilities, expertise and resources.

“Our agreement with the DMZ is mutually beneficial,” said Michael Kabalen, Innovacorp’s manager of properties and incubation. “It helps Innovacorp clients travelling to Toronto, and conversely DMZ clients travelling to Halifax – they both now have a landing pad in a likeminded facility.”

DMZ helps start-ups by connecting them with customers, capital, experts and a community of entrepreneurs and influencers.

“Our partnership with Innovacorp will provide start-ups with the opportunity to leverage resources across the country, while building a successful company in their home base,” said Abdullah Snobar, executive director of the DMZ. “We expect this to be the first of a much larger initiative that will connect the DMZ network with emerging start-up communities to build connections that will foster best-in-class Canadian entrepreneurs.”

The partnership will also allow clients of both organizations to tap into programs, webinars, events and more to share in the broader start-up community across Canada.

“This partnership with the DMZ will help bolster Nova Scotia’s stalwart start-up community,” said Stephen Duff, Innovacorp’s president and CEO. “We’re looking forward to fostering the opportunities this agreement will create for our start-ups.”
