Innovacorp is seeking an energetic, results-oriented and entrepreneurial individual for the role of manager of properties and incubation.

Innovacorp is Nova Scotia's early stage venture capital organization. We work to find, fund and foster innovative Nova Scotia start-ups that strive to change the world. Early stage investment is at the core of our business model. We also give entrepreneurs access to world-class incubation facilities, expert advice and other support to help them accelerate their companies. Target industries include information technology, life sciences, clean technology and oceans technology.

Innovacorp is made up of people who believe in straight talk, thinking outside the box, and shaking up old practices. We are passionate about the companies we work with and about helping them succeed. We believe in active involvement in the local start-up community.

We are seeking a manager of properties and incubation to join our team. Reporting to the vice president of client experience and operations, the manager of properties and incubation will manage the facility and property-related activities, plan and allocate space requirements, oversee facility and maintenance issues, and act as a key contact and liaison with client companies, prospective clients, industry and partners.

As the manager of properties and incubation, you will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the building services team and the administrative support team. With support from the maintenance supervisor, you will be responsible for building maintenance and operations, construction, repair and preventative maintenance plans for all facilities, and for liaising with contractors, external consultants and regulatory bodies. As chair of Innovacorp’s health and safety committee, you will ensure all buildings and tenants meet and exceed health and safety requirements.

Working closely with the client experience and operations team and the investment team, you will play a key role in developing and executing strategies to recruit incubation tenants. By building relationships with potential incubation clients in the information technology, engineering, life sciences and clean technology industries, you will promote awareness about Innovacorp to maximize facility occupancy. Your extensive lease management experience will ensure Innovacorp provides both existing and potential tenants with a superior level of service.

As the ideal candidate, you have a technical degree or diploma or have a minimum of six years of related experience in facilities or property management and leasing. You possess an appreciation of customer service and business management principles, budget formulation and financial management. In addition to demonstrated leadership abilities and a team-building approach, you have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, and building and environment codes for construction and installation is considered an asset.
