Michael Scott, chairman of Precision BioLogic Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Duff and Jennifer Mills as co-CEOs of the company. Scott, who has served as chairman and CEO of Precision BioLogic for the past 15 years, will continue to play an active role as executive chair.
Precision BioLogic, based in greater Halifax, Nova Scotia, serves the leading healthcare institutions in North America, Europe and beyond with its specialized blood coagulation diagnostic products. In 2010, the company was ranked as the #8 Best Workplace in Canada by the Great Place to Work® Institute Canada.
As co-CEOs, Duff and Mills will use their complementary knowledge and leadership skills to continue Precision BioLogic’s strategic approach to business building through “customer listening” – understanding and proactively responding to customer needs – while strengthening the organization in its next phase. Duff will focus his attention primarily in the external arena, addressing customer needs through new product development, sales and marketing. Mills will focus primarily on internal operations, quality, financial management and organizational development.
“The Board and I have tremendous confidence in Steve and Jennifer’s capacity to jointly lead Precision BioLogic as the company continues on its growth path,” said Scott. “This is a very positive step in the ongoing development of our organization and I’m delighted to be supporting them from the new vantage point of executive chair.”
Duff and Mills echoed Scott’s enthusiasm, saying the three of them have worked together for years and have created a solid foundation on which to continue to grow the company.
Duff, who most recently served as Precision BioLogic’s director of product strategy and innovation, has been a valued member of the team for over 20 years. He has been instrumental in establishing the company as a trusted partner with leading health care organizations on three continents, and has led the development of over 30 new products through Precision BioLogic’s R&D process. Duff serves on the boards of BioNova, the Nova Scotia life sciences industry association, and Innovacorp, a support organization focused on emerging high potential technology companies.
Mills, a CA, joined Precision BioLogic as COO in 2006 when the company was making a major move into new premises. She brought with her, eight years of experience in senior roles at Ocean Nutrition Canada, in addition to several years in general management and accounting positions with other prominent firms. A dynamic, flexible leader, Mills has been instrumental in bringing the company forward through her contributions to strategy, management, systems, and people development.
