Due diligence is a complex and rigorous business, legal and financial analysis of your company. It’s how investors make their investment decisions.

Our BOB on February 26 at the Innovacorp Enterprise Centre in Halifax (with a webcast to Sydney) will provide an overview on what investors take into consideration when doing due diligence and how companies can prepare for this process. The session will cover due diligence fundamentals for life sciences sectors, including biotechnology, medical devices and diagnostics, and agri-technology.

Joseph Regan, Managing Partner, Bioenterprise Capital Ventures Inc. (www.bioenterprisecapital.com) – Joseph has an extensive background in the innovation sector, building deep expertise in industrial operations and venture capital during two decades within two of Canada’s largest firms. Most recently, Joseph was vice president of investments at GrowthWorks Capital, where he was the most tenured investment team member and achieved top quartile North American Venture Capital Fund IRR performance. Previous to that, he held a similar position at Ventures West. Joseph has directly invested over one hundred million dollars and served as a board member for more than 30 companies.

Emma Saffman, Patent Agent, BCF (www.bcf.ca) – Emma is an experienced patent agent specializing in intellectual property since 2000. She practices in all areas of chemistry and the life sciences, with a broad range of experience in Canadian, U.S., and foreign patent prosecution, strategic IP portfolio development and management, patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis, opinions, due diligence evaluations, and litigation support. She has represented a wide variety of clients from individuals to multinational corporations, including start-ups, early stage ventures, universities, research organizations, and pharmaceutical companies. Prior to joining private practice, Emma was director of intellectual property at Neurochem Inc., where she managed and maintained the company's patent and trademark portfolios worldwide.
