Innovacorp and the Nova Scotia Department of Energy have teamed up to offer innovation support to projects that address issues in Nova Scotia’s electricity system and help early stage companies in the province demonstrate pre-commercial technologies with large export potential.
The first call for proposals under the Smart Energy Demonstration Program targets projects that aim to facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into the Nova Scotia electricity grid. Key areas of interest are technologies to improve integration of distributed solar photovoltaic (PV), intermittent wind generation, and building micro-grids.
Eligible projects must have a Nova Scotia-based early stage company as lead applicant and the provincial utility Nova Scotia Power as a collaborator. Other collaborators and partners can include academic researchers, government agencies and companies based in Nova Scotia or outside of the province. Information on the program and the Expression of Interest template can be found here.
An information session on the Smart Energy Demonstration Program will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2016, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, Atlantic Daylight Time (UCT-3) at the Technology Innovation Centre, 1 Research Drive, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
