Advanced Glazings Ltd. and The Oyster Group are the winners of the 2006 Nova Scotia Business Inc. Executive Development Global Entrepreneurship program.

Two Nova Scotia entrepreneurs have been selected as the 2006 winners of Nova Scotia Business Inc.'s (NSBI) Executive Development Global Entrepreneurship (EDGE) program.

Douglas Milburn will attend a five-day course on entrepreneurship development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, Mass., in January. Dr. Milburn is the president of Sydney-based Advanced Glazings Ltd., a developer, manufacturer and marketer of leading-edge technologies that bring natural daylight into buildings to improve the quality and energy efficiency of light.

"Attending this course at MIT Sloan will allow me to connect with business leaders from around the world," said Dr. Milburn. "I know what Nova Scotia can offer to businesses, and I'm looking forward to sharing that knowledge in Boston."

Faith Drinnan will attend a three-day course on corporate entrepreneurship at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass., in April. Ms. Drinnan is the president and CEO of Dartmouth-based The Oyster Group, a provider of circulation consulting and database services to regional and special interest magazine publishers in Canada and the US.

NSBI's EDGE program was created after the province's top entrepreneurs expressed a desire for continuing executive development programs. It covers costs of the program, course materials, accommodations and travel arrangements.

"The EDGE program gives our regions' executives more opportunity to reach new levels of business success," said Ms. Drinnan. "This first-hand look at what works and what doesn't work in outside markets helps us grow our own businesses here at home."

NSBI president and CEO Stephen Lund congratulated Dr. Milburn and Ms. Drinnan, and thanked all applicants.

"The expertise and drive that was clearly presented in each application is a testament to the strength of Nova Scotia's entrepreneurs," said Mr. Lund.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. is Nova Scotia's private sector led business development agency. NSBI is the investment attraction arm of the province and helps companies in Nova Scotia meet their growth potential through business advisory, export development and financial services.
