8:30 am – 1:00 pm
Innovacorp Enterprise Centre
1344 Summer Street, Halifax

In December 2012, Premier Dexter announced Nova Scotia’s intention to develop the former Bowater Mersey mill in Brooklyn (Liverpool) into a new centre for demonstrating and piloting cleaner energy, bioenergy and forestry innovations.

The new centre is in the early stages of development. The goal is to create a site that provides opportunities for partnerships and collaboration between industry and the research community. The former mill offers the advantage of a potential demonstration or commercial-scale facility, with access to steam and biomass supply for research and development of bioenergy technology. There is also on-site access to a wharf and port.

On behalf of the province, Innovacorp is providing advice and planning support to develop the new centre. In this role, Innovacorp is working to establish key partnerships and identify funding opportunities to further the centre’s activities.

The Forum
As a first step in facilitating key industry and research partnerships, Innovacorp is hosting a forum for interested universities, researchers and research funding partners in the region. We’d like you to join us. The forum’s goals are:

  • Provide an overview of plans for the new bioenergy demonstration centre, answer questions and discuss related opportunities for researchers.
  • Identify the expertise available in the region for bioenergy research. These experts may come from a variety of backgrounds, but will likely specialize in chemistry, engineering, nanotechnology, forestry or agricultural science.
  • Determine how interested universities, researchers and research funding partners wish to interact with the centre, with industry partners and with each other at the demonstration and pilot stage.

Please plan to join us on Tuesday, February 19, at the Innovacorp Enterprise Centre, 1344 Summer Street, Halifax. Please RSVP by February 14.
