Join us for the re-launch of Startup Grind Halifax! 

We will be hosting a pitch event for start-up founders, followed by a fireside chat with our esteemed guest, Katelyn Bourgoin - serial entrepreneur and start-up strategist. 

The purpose of our events is to introduce you to local Nova Scotian and East Coast talent within the start-up and tech community, as well as give you valuable information, resources and insights that can help you start, grow or accelerate your own business, or career within the tech and start-up world.

Pizza and Pitches: Perfecting your Public Speaking

Do you have trouble getting up to speak in front of crowds? Do you need to nail your elevator pitch for your next big meeting? Join us for Pizza and Pitches on Monday, November 26, for a low-pressure evening to practice your public speaking. A facilitator will guide you through short speaking exercises to help you get more comfortable speaking to a group. Come prepared to get up in front of a crowd and practice!

Companies Selected for 2018 Accelerate and Start-Up Yard Programs

Seventeen new technology companies have been selected for Innovacorp’s 2018 Accelerate and Start-Up Yard programs.

One of those companies is Sedna Technologies, an ocean technology start-up, founded by Sheamus MacDonald and Aleksandr Stabenow, of Halifax. They have developed a new traceability system for the seafood industry, which helps fishers monitor the condition of their harvests to reduce waste and bring higher-quality products to market.

Join us Thursday, November 8, as Darren Gallop shares the ins and outs of start-up funding from the perspective of building a company in Atlantic Canada outside a major ecosystem. He will touch on angel investors and venture capitalists, both regionally and internationally, and how to gain their interest in your venture. The session will wrap up with a discussion about how to leverage private investment to raise additional financing through a variety of government sources.
