Immunovaccine Raises $2.8 Million in Non-Brokered Private Placement

Immunovaccine Inc. (TSX-V:IMV) has received gross proceeds of $2,788,201.50 through its non-brokered private placement previously announced on February 10, 2012. The company issued 9,294,005 common shares of the company (the “common shares”) at the price of $0.30 per common share.

The common shares issued in connection with the non-brokered private placement may not be sold, transferred, hypothecated or otherwise traded on or through the facilities of TSX Venture Exchange or otherwise in Canada or to or for the benefit of a Canadian resident until July 8, 2012.

Nova Scotia Company Uses International Stickhandling Competition to Promote Safer, Smarter Hockey

On March 1, Skillz Systems launched an online competition for the users of its product QuickStickz, a video game that teaches hockey players how to stickhandle with their heads up. Within a few hours, there was widespread interest from players around the world.

“You can’t play QuickStickz with your head down. It trains you to look up while mastering the important skill of handling the puck,” said company president, Paul Behner. “If you control the puck, you control the game. Keeping your head up is critical to a hockey player’s success and safety.”

CarbonCure Technologies Secures $1.1-Million Venture Capital Investment

n innovative Halifax company creating some of the most environmentally friendly concrete in the world is taking its product to market with an investment from the province.

CarbonCure Technologies Inc. has secured $1.1-million in venture capital from Innovacorp.

The investment closes a $4-million round of financing. Innovacorp joins several North American investors in the green building and construction sectors.

Innovacorp Announces Senior Management Changes

Innovacorp president and CEO Clifford Gross is leaving the organization, Innovacorp announced today, Feb. 22. Jacquelyn Thayer Scott, current chair of Innovacorp's board of directors, will act as interim CEO.

"Innovacorp's board of directors is pleased with Cliff's contribution over the past year in refining Innovacorp's business model. He worked to ensure all activities are investment-led, which improves assistance provided to early-stage, knowledge-based companies in Nova Scotia," said Ms. Scott.

Highlights from the I-3 Competition Awards Event

On February 8, 2012, over 250 Nova Scotians celebrated innovation and entrepreneurship in the province at the World Trade and Convention Centre in downtown Halifax. That evening, Innovacorp announced DeNovaMed Inc. as the provincial winner of the I-3 Technology Start-Up Competition, and celebrated the 1st and 2nd place award winners from the competition's five provincial zones.
