Matthew Swan is the director of the Nova Scotia Power Makerspace. Matthew transformed 4,000 square feet of space in downtown Sydney into a unique and creative environment for local entrepreneurs, fabricators, inventors, designers and more. He manages the planning, directing and coordinating of all the makerspace operations.
Matthew has years of experience in design and manufacturing with various companies in the Cape Breton regional municipality. Before taking on the Nova Scotia Power Makerspace director role, he was employed by Target Hydraulics & Machine Works doing design and project coordination. Prior to that, he was involved in research and product development with both Billdidit and Advanced Glazings Limited. He was also self-employed doing landscaping and property remediation contract work.
Matthew has a bachelor of mechanical engineering technology from Cape Breton University. With years of experience in innovative design and development coordination, he is both an inventor and co-inventor of several patent applications.
