Bob Pelley is Innovacorp’s regional manager for Cape Breton and Northern Nova Scotia. In this role, Bob enables knowledge-based companies to accelerate their development, while cultivating a dynamic, high-growth, entrepreneurial culture in the region.
Bob has mentored small and medium sized businesses for over 20 years. He is a veteran of the market research and consulting industry, with experience in business development, project management, market research, strategic planning, operations and sales. Over the years, he has started and operated a number of his own companies and assisted many local start-ups. Bob has worked in a wide range of sectors, from recreation, tourism and education, to retail trade, technology and health.
In 2014, Startup Canada recognized him as an “Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Builder for Atlantic Canada,” as Cape Breton’s start-up community has been recognized by Entrevestor.com as the fastest growing start-up hub in the region, with 300 per cent growth among innovation based start-ups over the past five years.
Bob is an active volunteer in the community and has held positions with organizations such as the Northern Yacht Club, Ben Eoin Ski Team, Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design, YMCA of Cape Breton, Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce, Cape Breton Partnership, and Market Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA).
Bob has a specialized designation in market research from the Market Research Intelligence Association, a commerce degree from Dalhousie University and a certificate in Strategy and Innovation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
